DAY EIGHTEEN – Saturday 5th May 2018
Tofino BC and Ucluelet BC
Another rest day! And what a beautiful day for it in this spectacular part of the world. We grabbed brekky from Barkley Cafe to go and took it to the lighthouse to eat and soak in the sunshine and try to spot some more wildlife. Bad luck on the wildlife, but still, not a terrible view to look at. I’m definitely not sad about it!
We then adventured back to Tofino, found the Pacific TransCanada terminus sign, and had a wander around this tiny town, looked in all the shops, but very touristy and overpriced.
We hired an inflatable canoe from Tofino Paddle Surf and happily floated and paddled around in this little cove between a couple of little islands in the North Pacific Ocean. The sun was out, but the water was cold! We unashamedly sung the lyrics to Beautiful Briny Sea (from Bedknobs and Broomsticks lol) which was stuck in our heads, and enjoyed playing in the sunshine!
Back to Chocolate Tofino for an afternoon treat, I’m actually really sad I can’t bring this store with me. I had a taste test of the sorbet which was good, but I so very rarely get to enjoy choc ice cream in a waffle cone, same again as yesterday it is! If I lived here I would come here every day! And probably have diabetes lol probs a good thing we are leaving early tomorrow morning.
We booked the ferry back to Vancouver and stayed at the Ucluelet campground again. Fire. Amazing showers. Beautiful views, does life get any better!
